The Western Australian Museum’s record-breaking exhibition Dinosaur Discovery: Lost Creatures of the Cretaceous will travel to Queensland next year.
Culture and the Arts Minister John Day said more than 173,000 people visited the exhibition in Perth, making it the WA Museum’s most popular exhibition to date.
“The hugely successful exhibition will open at the Queensland Museum in March 2015, providing a new audience with the opportunity to experience the full suite of life-size animatronic models,” Mr Day said.
Dinosaur Discovery: Lost Creatures of the Cretaceous brings to life the extraordinary dinosaurs of the Cretaceous period in a custom-made exhibition, featuring more than 20 examples of the most diverse range of dinosaurs ever to have walked the earth.
“The exhibition was specially created by the WA Museum in partnership with Goldie Marketing, and is based on the most recent scientific findings and a re-evaluation of previous dinosaur research,” the Minister said.
Dinosaur Discovery replicas include a 16-metre long and 10-metre high Brachiosaurus, and a 14-metre long and 5.4-metre high Spinosaurus, a section dedicated to Australian dinosaurs including rarely seen before species, and more than 1,000 plant specimens showing the vegetation of the time.
The exhibition will be on display at the Queensland Museum from March 27 until October 5, 2015.
