New power supply schedule announced in Haryana

32Gurgaon, Dec 10 (IANS) The Haryana government Wednesday announced changes in the electricity supply schedule for the rural and suburban areas while keeping the number of hours of supply unchanged at 14 hours – the same under the previous government.

People were expecting longer supply hours for their homes and agriculture tubewells as was promised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the election rallies for the assembly polls in October.

The Haryana power utilities (Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam) have decided to change the power supply schedule for rural domestic consumers beginning Dec 11.

A spokesman said here Wednesday that the decision has been taken following instructions from the chief minister.

The electricity will be supplied to rural domestic consumers from 6.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m. and 11.00 p.m. to 8.00 a.m.(next day).

It will allow school children to get ready in time. During the day, electricity will be supplied to villages 2:00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. daily.

Power supply timings for agricultural tubewells will be revised accordingly. Consumers in ths category have been divided into two categories. Both will get power eight hours daily as it was earlier. The first group will be supplied power 9.00 p.m. to 5.00 a.m., and the second group 8.00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Timings for both groups will be interchanged every three days.
