Madrid, Oct 6 (IANS/EFE) Spain’s Maritime Rescue service Sunday pulled out of water 58 immigrants from Sub-Saharan countries, who had set sail from the Moroccan coast in a small boat in the Mediterranean Sea.
The migrants were intercepted 10 nautical miles from the Spanish islet of Alboran.
A spokesman for the emergency service told EFE that there were 32 men, 16 women and 10 children on board the boat, adding that they would be taken to port facilities in the southern Spanish city of Almeria.
The migrants, including the children, apparently are in good health and reports are that only one of the women showed any symptoms of fever or other illness.
The Maritime Rescue service Sunday afternoon launched the search operation for the boatload of illegal migrants, who apparently were trying to make it to Spanish territory.
