Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC), has condemned the Syrian regime for using brutal methods to continue killing its people.
Al-Zayani, it was reported Thursday, said that the regime’s forces were killing people and destroying Syrian cities, regardless of both humanitarian and ethical principles and provisions of International Humanitarian Law.
He also said that the Syrian regime forces’ continued use of aircraft and helicopters to drop explosives and shells for killing and destruction in Syrian cities demonstrates the cruelty of the Syrian regime against its people.
The secretary-general denounced the international community’s silence on the brutal crimes against the Syrian people, calling upon it to shoulder its responsibilities to put an end to the continued bloodshed and provide protection as well as the urgently required humanitarian aid to Syrian civilians.
The GCC comprises the Arabian Gulf countries of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
