Stuart Ayres med rel: Sydney Olympic Park delivers school holiday fun

1These winter school holidays, there’s no better way to keep the kids entertained than signing them up for some of the 55 activities available at Sydney Olympic Park’s famous Kids in the Park program.

Minister for Sport and Recreation Stuart Ayres said the program is designed to offer a wide range of activities designed to keep kids active during the winter holidays and appeal to all ages and interests.

“It’s not just kids that will be looked after these school holidays – parents will be pleased to learn that 20 per cent of the activities are free with another 20 per cent costing $25 or less. That’s 23 activities perfect for families on a budget,” Mr Ayres said.

The Kids in the Park program contains programs for adventurous, active, environmentally-minded and creative kids, with programs ranging from archery to writing workshops, soccer and skate camps, robotics to bird watching and everything in between.

“As you would expect from Sydney Olympic Park, plenty of sporting activities are on offer, including AC Milan Soccer Camps, AFL Clinics, archery courses, acrobatics and a wide variety of programs at the Aquatic Centre, and that just covers the letter ‘A’,” Mr Ayres added.

Kids in the Park takes advantage of the Park’s facilities and open spaces, allowing kids’ access to some of the country’s most iconic venues, including ANZ Stadium, Allphones Arena, Bicentennial Park, the Aquatic Centre and Newington Armory.

In particular, Monster Skatepark, Monster BMX and Monster Mountain X provide some of the finest facilities and tuition available anywhere. Kids can choose from individual lessons right through to residential camps, supporting kids of every skill level.

“As Minister for Sport and Recreation I’m pleased to see that some 35,000 kids take part in the Kids in the Park program every year. It’s important that our kids remain active and engaged during the holidays, rather than sitting in front of the television or the computer,” Mr Ayres said.

Kids in the Park also provides plenty of opportunities to sharpen the mind with a wide range of writing workshops, painting and digital filmmaking workshops.
