Twenty-one organisations will share in more than $93,000 in the latest round of the State Government Grants for Women program.
Women’s Interests Minister Liza Harvey said the funding would go to organisations across Western Australia, providing a variety of different projects and programs.
Up to $5,000 is available to community sector groups and local governments for projects that identify and address the unique challenges faced by women and encourage women’s economic independence and leadership.
“Promoting women’s economic independence and leadership opportunities is important for WA,” Mrs Harvey said.
“These grants enable local groups to develop effective, tailored programs for women at a local level.
“The range of programs being supported by these grants is outstanding, providing tangible outcomes for communities right across the State.”
Projects that have successfully obtained funding in this round of the Grants for Women program include a program of scholarships for entrepreneurial women starting up a new business, a training program for Aboriginal mentors, workshops for migrant women and a skills program for young mothers.
The Grants for Women program is provided annually by the Department of Local Government and Communities.
