Deputy Premier med rel: Free seminar for Indian small businesses

NSW Deputy Premier and Minister for Small Business Andrew Stoner and Member for Parramatta Dr Geoff Lee are inviting Indian-speaking small business owners to an information seminar in Parramatta on Wednesday 25 June to find out about NSW Government business support services available to them.

Mr Stoner said the State’s multicultural communities had a long tradition of running small businesses in NSW.

“The entrepreneurial spirit is strong in our diverse communities and the NSW Government is committed to supporting that and helping small businesses to grow and flourish,” Mr Stoner said.

“Almost one third of NSW small business operators were born overseas (32 per cent) and the Government wants to help these small business operators to be more successful.

“At this free session, small business owners and operators from the Indian-speaking community have the opportunity to learn more about the range of services offered by the Office of the NSW Small Business Commissioner and NSW Trade & Investment.

“These services are tailored to help people with many aspects of business including how to establish, run and grow a business, how to get into exporting, and how to resolve retail leasing disputes.

“The Office of the NSW Small Business Commissioner is also developing a range of multilingual resources to assist multicultural small business owners.”

Dr Lee encouraged local small business owners to attend and said an interpreter would also be available at the session.

“The NSW Small Business Commissioner, Robyn Hobbs, will attend as well as members of the NSW Multicultural Business Advisory Panel,” Dr Lee said.

“Attendees will have the opportunity to provide feedback to us on specific business issues.”
