Whittlesea Secondary School to receive major upgrade

Whittlesea Secondary School is set for a major refurbishment with Premier Denis Napthine today visiting the school with Minister for Education Martin Dixon to announce $4.7 million in capital upgrades.
Dr Napthine said the funding would allow the school to upgrade a number of key areas in the school precinct.
“I am pleased to announce that the upcoming Victorian State Budget will include $4.7 million for Whittlesea Secondary College to improve its facilities,” Dr Napthine said.
“This will allow Whittlesea Secondary to significantly upgrade and expand its junior school in addition to improving its performing arts facilities.
“The funding will also enable internal refurbishments to deliver classrooms that are more suited to modern teaching methods.
“This is a great outcome for students and families in the Whittlesea area,” Dr Napthine said.
Mr Dixon said the Coalition Government was delivering better schools as part of its strategy to boost education in Victoria.
“In addition to increasing maintenance funding by 40%, we are also undertaking major school upgrades around the state and investing a record
$8.8 billion in primary and secondary schooling,” Mr Dixon said.
“The Coalition Government is committed to building a better education system for all Victorian families.”
Liberal Candidate for Yan Yean Sam Ozturk welcomed the Coalition Government’s announcement.
“The expansion of the junior school here at Whittlesea Secondary will help cater for the growing communities in Melbourne’s north,” Mr Ozturk said.
