Barry O’Farrell med rel: NSW Government delivers one-stop shop for Parramatta

barryNSW Premier and Minister for Western Sydney Barry O’Farrell today officially opened the Service NSW one-stop shop at Parramatta, which is making it easier for local residents and businesses to carry out NSW Government transactions.

“Since opening its doors to customers in October, the Parramatta one-stop shop has served more than 25,000 local residents and business owners,” said Mr O’Farrell, who was joined by Member for Parramatta Geoff Lee and Member for Granville Tony Issa.

“At the one-stop shops customers can do everything from renewing their drivers’ licence, get an owner builder permit, register a boat or apply for a birth certificate,” Mr O’Farrell said.

“People expect the same high level of customer service from government as they get from leading retailers and banks – the new one-stop shops across NSW are providing just that.

“Service NSW was launched back in July as part of our commitment to making it easier for people to carry out their business with the NSW Government.

“Since July more than half-a-million customers have been served at our one-stop shops, on the 24/7 phone line and the Service NSW website.

“This new one-stop shop at Parramatta, along with the new Parramatta Service NSW contact centre, have created jobs for more than 90 people in Western Sydney, as well as making it easier for residents and businesses to do their business with the NSW Government.”

The Parramatta Service NSW centre is located at 27-31 Argyle Street and is within walking distance of the train and bus interchange.

Dr Lee said about 140,000 customers will be served at the one-stop shop each year.

“Customers at the Parramatta service centre have been responding positively to the one-stop shop design, the extended hours, the ability to make appointments and the friendly and professional staff.

“At the service centre, customers are greeted by concierges who check they have the appropriate paperwork filled out and advise them of wait times,” Dr Lee said.

Mr Issa said more transactions are being added to the 850 already on offer.

“The Service NSW one-stop shop at Parramatta saves time by allowing customers to complete a range of transactions in the one spot,” Mr Issa said.

“New transactions available at one-stop shops include Housing NSW rental and bond loan payments, changes to electoral enrolments and land tax and fine payments.”

NSW Customer Service Commissioner Michael Pratt said the Service NSW one-stop shops are incredibly popular.

“Although these are early days, our customer feedback scores are certainly exceeding international best practice,” Mr Pratt said.

“We will continue to deliver even further improvements to meet the commitment of making it simpler, easier and more convenient access to government transactional services.”
