The Hague, April 7 (IANS) With Ajax drawing 1-1 at Vitesse and Feyenoord defeating RKC Waalwijk 2-0, the Amsterdam based football club will have to delay their championship party for at least another week.
Vitesse were the stronger side in the first half against Ajax in Arnhem Sunday. Chelsea loanee Bertrand Traore opened the scoring in the 25th minute. Vitesse failed to convert more chances with Ajax lucky to be only 0-1 behind at half-time, reports Xinhua.
In the second half, Kolbeinn Sigthorsson produced an early equaliser and after that Ajax were the dominant team and Vitesse were lucky to secure a point.
Also Sunday Feyenoord beat RKC Waalwijk 2-0 in Rotterdam. Striker Graziano Pelle, who returned from a four matche suspension, scored both goals.
Ajax lead the Eredivisie with 66 points out of 31 matches. Feyenoord are six points behind with three match rounds remaining, FC Twente trail by ten points,
Vitesse by twelve and number five PSV by thirteen points. If Ajax beat ADO Den Haag Sunday and Feyenoord lose points at PSV, the Amsterdam based team will clinch their 33rd Dutch league title.
