Minister for Ageing John Ajaka encouraged NSW Seniors to take advantage of discounts and savings at the Sydney Royal Easter Show on two dedicated Seniors’ Days on 15 and 16 April.
“The NSW Government is proudly supporting the dedicated days so NSW Seniors Card members can save money while enjoying themselves at the show,” Mr Ajaka said.
“From two for one deals on carnival rides to huge reductions on items such as show bags and food, there will be plenty of discounts and events tailored for seniors.
“This is our way of thanking seniors for their outstanding contributions to the local community.
“I am also pleased to announce that the NSW Government and Telstra are jointly sponsoring a new Seniors Hub at the show for the first time, giving seniors an opportunity to win major prizes including a trip to Disneyland in California.
“The Hub, which is located near the Big Top Amphitheatre, is expected to be a ‘go to’ destination for more than 20,000 seniors and will offer complimentary tea and coffee.
“When seniors visit the hub they can learn about computer basics, online security, digital photography, social networking and how to use smart phones and tablets.
“The first 10,000 seniors who visit the hub every day will be given a free promotional bag with Tech Savvy Senior information and giveaways including free training DVDs.
“One of the major highlights at the Seniors Hub is The Show Through My Eyes photo competition that gives amateur photographers older than 60 the opportunity to win exciting major prizes, such as a trip to Disneyland, by sharing old or new photos taken at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
“There will also be prizes awarded throughout the day including Telstra mobile phones, iPads and gift vouchers.
“I encourage seniors to get involved, this is a great opportunity to share memories of the show and learn more about technology,” Mr Ajaka said.
