New Delhi, March 27 (IANS) Designer duo Shantanu and Nikhil took the audience through an architectural nostalgia of pre-independence era through their collection titled ‘The shadows within’ at the ongoing Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week here.
“It is more about story telling. It is about imaginative character called Vanessa, who lived in the 1930s and 1940s and in our mind she was a British,” Shantanu told reporters here Wednesday after their show on day one of the fashion week.
The choice of colours – dusty rose, off-white, red and chocolate, added romance to the range, which consisted of straight gowns, lehengas with contemporary blouse and also saris made of mostly raw silk and chiffon.
The menswear was a fresh take on kurtas.
“We tried to bring femininity in menswear so there was a lot of draped kurta. It brought softness to a man’s look. It is about nawaz style,” said Nikhil.
