Lucknow, March 22 (IANS) Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi Saturday lashed out at BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, saying the development in Gujarat was due to the toil and hard work of its people, not because of the chief minister.
Addressing a public rally at Pratapgarh, around 160 km from Lucknow, Gandhi said that while the opposition parties were revolving around one man, the Congress was striving for power to the people.
He said the Congress was in favour of delegating more power to the common man of the country.
Gandhi accused the opposition of doing “politics of hatred” while the Congress was pursuing “constructing and developmental politics”.
Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Congress unit president Nirmal Khatri said the party would better its 2009 performance.
Uttar Pradesh, with 80 Lok Sabha seats, will see six-phase polling April 10, 17, 24, 30 and May 7 and 12.
The Congress has 21 lawmakers from the state in the outgoing Lok Sabha.
